Having a lot of wind noise from those rear vent windows? Well here is the fix; we've designed an extended link that is a direct replacement for the factory set up. It is designed to pull in the vent window in .050" more than the original link which in turn creates a tighter seal and eliminates that irritating wind noise which emanates primarily from the passenger side vent window. No longer will you hear wind or road noise from yours or other vehicles as you drive on the highway regardless what speed you are traveling. Our test vehicle was on a 1993 and 1994 GMC Sierra extended cab model (basically the same truck as the Chevy Silverado). We ended up replacing the drivers side mainly out of curiosity - the results were impressive. GM and the dealer do not offer a fix either as warranty or out of warranty so why waste your time at the dealer where it could potentially cost $275 per side (not including labor) to replace the entire vent asm. These parts are injection molded from a very stable non-metallic material and are sold for $35.00 a pair (2). Our solution is easy to install all you need is a screw drive, snap ring pliers and about 5 minutes per window. Order your link replacements today!!!!!!
This will fix 98%
of the trucks, there are other factors that prevent the other 2% working perfectly, if you are in the 2% please contact me first before leaving feedback.
For 1999 newer body style (looks like a 2000 model) use 2000-02,2004-07 link, or else
the 'C' clip end will not stay on the shaft.
Also the shaft could be worn from many years of use, this will make the "C" clip not stay on the shaft too.
This link will also fit S10 mini pickups too.
Installation pictures are in sequence listed above from removing old links to installing new links.
INSTRUCTIONS
Tools needed are a straight blade screwdriver and snap-ring pliers. Open the vent window, use the screwdriver to pop the "C" end of the link off
the post by using the palm of your hand banging on top of the screwdriver until the "C" end of the link pops off the post.
Turn the latch so it releases from the window.
Spread the latch with snap-ring pliers and remove the old link.
Insert the new link.
Hook the latch back on the window.
Snap the link back on the post with your hand, a screwdriver may be needed to do this.
